Despite growing up in a suburban area, there was a large empty field behind my house and a mountain view out my bedroom window. These views fostered my love of nature, and when I began to use a camera, it became an instinctive subject for me to pursue.
On road trips, I stare out the window at the passing scenery and with my camera I try to capture the passing scenes of mountain ranges and vast, empty landscapes. I also pause when we are stopped on the road at gas stations, which, while of great importance, are not usually visually appreciated. As people so often seem to pass by these places of beauty and banality without much thought, my photos act as a reminder to appreciate and find beauty in these places as they pass.
Finding these moments of a quiet stillness, the work conveys a deep appreciation for nature and our place within it.
